Host Families needed in North London

Japanese cultural exchange programme

5 days to 2 weeks

Description

Enriching Cultural Exchange Programme

👐Welcome, I'm Jules Esquivel, the Group Coordinator in the Southgate/Enfield area. It's great to have you here. It is important to know if you meet the basic requirements to host students; read below.

Alternatively, if you can’t host students, you don’t live in this area but work for a Secondary school Or Primary school, you can register the school to host a cultural exchange. This can consist of the Japanese students visiting the school and mingling with local students with fun and interesting activities or games I host. The school will be paid for this, so let me know!

This programme offers a unique opportunity for families to engage in a rewarding cultural exchange experience. Hosting Japanese students brings a wealth of positivity to each household, fostering mutual respect and understanding. The easy-going nature of these students enhances the experience, creating lasting memories and friendships.

Programme Highlights

  • Seasonal Hosting: The programme takes place four times a year, aligning with each season, allowing families to plan ahead and participate at their convenience.

  • Flexible Hosting Options: Families can host 2 to 3 students at a time, making it easy to accommodate different household dynamics.

  • Compensation: Families receive £27 per student per night and £28 per escort hosted, providing a financial incentive while contributing to a meaningful experience.

Host families need to:

- Live within an easy commutable area from Enfield Town.

-Have at least one spare room with 2 beds and a table that can be a dining table where they can sit and do homework if given the case.

-The bathroom door 🚪 needs to be able to lock or have a latch.

-Smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors need to be up-to-date as well as appliances serviced regularly for health and safety.

The process will consist of:

- Filling out the form through

- Receive an email confirmation once your details have been reviewed, then a call to arrange a time for the home visit and any questions host families may have.

- We will visit your home and interview you. This will confirm details and ask you questions about your hobbies, preferences or household dynamics, pets etc.; this is to ensure a good match with the Japanese students staying with you.

- Wait to hear from us about how to move forward and confirmation of dates.

-You will receive the final itinerary

-You provide the payment details, 30% of the compensation would be given when you pick students up, and the remaining when they are dropped off for departure at the study centre.

The students will be picked up from the study centre upon arrival and then the families need to drop them off at the study centre in Enfield Town on the day of departure. For this Summer, the next group will be arriving on the 10th of August. The students would be Picked up at around 5 pm from the study centre on the 10th, and dropped off on the 16th of August in the morning at the study centre.

Transportation in between can be done by the students themselves, on the first day the host family would need to show them how to move around, and the remaining days they can travel by themselves, this is why it's important to live in a commutable area to Enfield Town.

Weekends are usually when you get to spend some time with the students, and it is up to you what to do to bond and make students feel welcomed.

Fill-in your details and I will be in touch with you soon.

This happens in collaboration with Cultural Homestay Exchange who manages the students see more here: https://www.culturalhomestay.org/archives/univ_gallery/che-homestay
